The Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields organic food bars are one of many food items that will blast off with Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield on a six-month mission to the International Space Station in December.
Ok, the title is just a tad misleading, but not by much.

When Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield blasts off for his six-month mission aboard the International Space Station, he’ll be taking another reminder of Canada with him. Some 32 Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields organic food bars will also be aboard.

Carol Duval of the Canadian Space Agency said the food bars meet the strict criteria because of their nutrition, and they don’t make crumbs. Crumbs would float around just like the Simpsons episode where Homer breaks open a bag of potato chips (crisps in the UK). However, they could easily get into equipment and cause a serious problem.

Ms Duval said the blueberry bars will be rationed during the six-month mission, but that it will be great to share this Canadian treat with the Russian and American astronaut crew.
